| This first image is scanned from the original photo, taken around 1940. The small girl is my mother, the older girl is her older sister. No image editing has been done, other than cropping the rough edges. | This image shows the improvements from an automatic contrast adjustment and Unsharp Masking. The image is definitely improved. Details in the faces, grass and background buildings are much more evident. | In the final image, manual greyscale adjustments and background retouching have dramatically improved the picture. This web page does not do justice to these images - you should see the printed pictures. |
