In December 2003, BrightBits was commissioned to created awards for the senseis (teachers) at Greco Martial Arts. I was supplied with a general idea of what was to be included on the award, as well as samples of calligraphy to be scanned and incorporated into the design. Each award was to be personalized with the sensei's name, matted and framed.
The calligraphy samples appeared as follows when first scanned:
The first sample translates to "Greco Martial Arts", and the second to "Karate" which means "empty hand".
Here is final design for the award (with my own name inserted). The Greco logo is in the bottom right-hand corner.
Here is a matted and framed award, including a wire for hanging on a wall. The sensei's name has been digitally blurred out for privacy. The finished frame size was 6x6 inches.
